Alpacas are gentle, inquisitive, very intelligent and very cute. They are gentle in the way they talk to each other, by giving a humming (mmm) sound. They can also give a very loud squeal when they are in trouble to attract attention. They are inquisitive, as they poke their noses into everything to check it out. Alpaca's are known for their intelligence and intuition when it comes to protecting their young and in general. Often castrated males are used as herd guards for sheep and goats with outstanding results. They have been known to kill fox's while protecting baby animals.
Alpacas belong to the camelid family so therefore have padded feet which is good for our environment. Alpacas have been imported to Australia from Chille and Peru.
People are attracted to alpacas because they are so cute and cuddly and they make wonderful pets. Their fleece is very soft and light weight with a silky feel and in their homeland it is referred to as "The Fibre of the Gods .
