Baby alpaca are called cria. When our cria are born they are handled each day for the first few weeks. This is beneficial later when they need their toe nails clipping, or at shearing time, or maybe a hair trim, where they are usually well behaved. Alpacas that have been well handled when young are easy to halter train and prepare for shows.
Our alpacas make great pets and herd guards because of their quiet nature and good temperament. At feed time, each alpaca has their own individual feed container, to ensure they are equally fed as some eat faster than others.
Some of our alpacas have even paid us a visit, when we have invited them into our home on rare occasions.
